Voice Cloning: Consent, Safety and Responsible Use

By FSMB AI Network · Published 2026-10-15 · 2 min read

Voice cloning is powerful, which is exactly why it must be used carefully. A voice is part of a person's identity. Using it without permission can mislead people, damage reputations and cause real harm. This guide explains the basic rules that every creator and business should follow.

Rule 1: Always get consent

Only clone a voice if it is your own, or if the owner has clearly agreed. Ideally, get the permission in writing and explain how the voice will be used, for how long and where the audio will be published. If a person later asks you to stop using their voice, you should stop.

Rule 2: Never deceive or impersonate

Do not use a clone to pretend to be someone else, to fake a phone call, to spread false statements or to bypass voice-based security. Using a cloned voice for fraud or harassment is unethical and in many countries illegal.

Rule 3: Be careful with public figures

Do not clone the voice of celebrities, politicians, religious scholars or other public figures to make them say things they never said. Even when it looks like a joke, it can be taken seriously and spread widely.

Rule 4: Label AI generated audio

When the audience could believe that a real person is speaking, tell them that the audio is AI generated. A short line in the description, such as "Narrated with an AI voice", builds trust and keeps you in line with platform rules.

Good uses of voice cloning

Our approach

Only upload a sample if you have the right to use that voice. Misuse of the service to harm others is not allowed. If you see content made with our service that you believe is abusive, contact us through the contact page.

Responsible use protects everyone, including you. Clone voices with permission, label your content honestly and use the technology to create, not to mislead.
